Sinstriker's Will

The pitch is a bite ability bolted onto a body: tap the enchanted creature to deal its power to an attacker or blocker, a one-way shot rather than the mutual damage a fight grants. The two restrictions are what shape the whole design. The target must be attacking or blocking, so the effect only exists during combat, and the activation taps the host, so a creature without vigilance can either swing or fire, not both in the same step. That makes this a defensive instrument wearing an offensive coat: hold a large creature back untapped, and it becomes a turret that picks off attackers before they connect or punishes anything that comes in to block, resetting every turn. Because the damage scales with the host's power, the ideal carrier is the opposite of a wall: you want a heavy hitter whose toughness keeps it alive and whose power makes each shot lethal, not a 0-power blocker that fires for nothing. The Aura wrapper is the liability the rate is paying for. Four mana funneled into one creature evaporates to any removal aimed at the host, the two-for-one tax that has kept combat-flavored Auras off serious tables since the earliest sets. It earns its mana only on a host that is hard to kill or easy to recur, where the tap turns a fat, sticky blocker into a repeatable threat that controls every combat step on the table.
