Silver Sable, Mercenary Leader
The counters-matter axis usually lives in green and needs a critical mass to pay off; here it collapses into a single white body that both seeds the axis and cashes it in. The enters trigger drops the first counter on another creature, which does double duty: it develops a threat and, more importantly, it manufactures a "modified" creature well before any Equipment or Auras have reached the table. That second clause is the engine. Each attack hands lifelink to one modified creature you control, and because counters themselves qualify as modifications, the card is self-sufficient: the counter it places on the way in is often the very thing that makes a target eligible for the handout. It plays as a modified-matters glue piece, stitching together the counters, Equipment, and Auras subthemes white and its partners keep circling. The 2/3 body is deliberately modest, because the value isn't in the beatdown; it's in the recurring lifegain that fires whenever it commits to combat, turning a wide board of augmented creatures into a race the aggressor rarely wins. What keeps the effect honest is the narrow shape of the trigger: it activates only when Silver Sable swings, and only on a single creature per turn, so you get a repeatable trickle rather than a board-wide wall you can hold up on defense.
