Silent Dart

Artifact1 generic mana

The arithmetic is brutal: one mana to deploy, then four more and the artifact itself to deal three damage to a single creature. Five total mana and a permanent spent to do what a one-mana spell does at instant speed, only slower and pricier, and telegraphed the moment it hits the battlefield, since an opponent can read the threat and play around it before the button ever gets pressed. The design sits squarely in the colorless-utility lineage that lets any deck, regardless of color, buy a removal click as an afterthought: the same impulse behind cheap artifacts that quietly answer a problem creature when your spells cannot. What you pay for that color-agnostic access is rate, and the rate here is genuinely poor. The one bright spot is the sacrifice clause. As a one-mana artifact that consumes itself to fire, it doubles as artifact-matters fodder and graveyard fuel: the three damage becomes almost incidental to the value of having a cheap permanent that wants to die on your terms. In a deck that cares about artifacts entering and leaving, or one hungry for cheap sacrifice material, the removal is a rider on the enabler rather than its own justification. Outside that niche, it is what a deck reaches for after the better answers are gone.
