Silent Attendant

Creature — Human Cleric2 generic manaWhite mana

Tap for a single point of life every turn, forever: the increment never grows, and that fixed size is the whole engineering problem this design answers. One life per activation barely dents any clock worth measuring, so the payoff has to come from elsewhere, from whatever effect reads "whenever you gain life." Wired into a counter accumulator like Ajani's Pridemate, the steady drip becomes incremental growth; routed through a drain effect, the 0/2 stops being a wall and starts being a slow execution. The body is deliberately unambitious: no haste, no protection, no way to scale the increment unless you assemble the apparatus around it. That restraint is load-bearing. What you are getting is a free, recurring, repeatable source of lifegain, the smallest stable unit you can stack a payoff on top of, with the permanence mattering far more than the size of any single tick.

The 0/2 frame does real work here. Two toughness keeps the source alive through incidental pings and small attackers, and a tap cost means it asks nothing of your mana once it resolves: drop it, leave it, and let it feed the engine every turn while your other lands do the casting. This is not a card you play to accomplish something in isolation; it is a card you play to make a lifegain stack tick reliably, an input rather than an output.
