Shoot Down

Sorcery3 generic manaGreen mana

Green's answer to the perennial problem of the thing it cannot touch. Green removal has always been fenced off from creatures without a keyword hook: it fights, it deals damage in combat, it wraths the board, but it does not point at a single ground pounder and make it disappear. What it has been quietly granted over the years is jurisdiction over the sky, over artifacts, and over enchantments, the three categories that green's naturalist flavor lets it prune. This folds all three into one sorcery and upgrades the verb to exile, which sidesteps the death triggers, indestructible clauses, and graveyard recursion that a destroy effect leaves on the table. Four mana at sorcery speed is the toll: no combat-trick blowouts, no end-of-turn ambushes on an attacking flier, just a clean main-phase removal of a permanent that green usually has to answer with a bigger body or a reach creature. The target restriction is where the design does its bookkeeping. A grounded, keywordless nonartifact, nonenchantment creature is still outside its reach, preserving the color's classic weakness even as it hands green a rare piece of exile-based removal. Exiling flying creatures is the throughline that ties the modes together: green swats the things it cannot block, and this is the swat rendered as a spell rather than a Plummet or a Hurricane.
