Color-changing effects usually live inside a single permanent or a one-shot pump spell; this one repaints the entire board and keeps it that way. That global rewrite is the hook. Name a color and every nonland permanent in play, yours included, becomes that color and stays that color for as long as the enchantment sticks: this is a static ability, not a one-shot, so creatures that arrive afterward inherit the new color too. Protection from white stops nothing on the battlefield if no permanent is white anymore. An opponent's creature you've recolored suddenly answers to your color-specific bounce, your color hosers, the removal spell with a clause it was never exposed to before. It rewrites permanents already on the battlefield and everything that follows them, but it leaves lands alone and never touches the stack, so it is a board-state tool, not a counterspell enabler. The symmetry is real but lopsided: you choose the color, and your opponent has to play around a decision you have already made. Decks built on a single color-keyed piece (a Crusade-style anthem that pumps one color, a damage source that only hits one color, a removal spell with a color restriction) get to dictate the battlefield's color rather than wait for it to show. It expresses cleanly an idea Magic returns to periodically: that color is not just a deckbuilding constraint but a property other cards can seize and overwrite mid-game.
