Shefet Archfiend
The seven-mana Demon that scours the small stuff on its way down is an old black shape: the color has long paid a premium for a body stapled to a sweeper, from Kagemaro to the sacrifice-fueled reapers that came after. The entry trigger here is a deliberately calibrated version. Minus two, minus two to all other creatures is big enough to sweep a swarm of tokens, mana dorks, and utility one-drops, but small enough that the real threats worth worrying about tend to walk away. What makes the card usable well before turn seven is the cycling clause. A 5/5 flier attached to a miniature Infest is a payoff that only functions when you have the mana to deploy it, and the games where you are behind on lands are exactly the games where a seven-drop sits dead in your grip. Cycling for two turns that dead top-decked bomb into a dig toward the lands you are missing, without asking you to run a weak card just to smooth the curve. That is the tension it resolves: the ceiling of a board reset plus an evasive clock never comes at the cost of a hand clogged by an uncastable brick. Each time you draw it, the card poses one question: is this the turn I need the reset and the flier, or the turn I need another card to keep the game alive.
