Because the clause counts each creature you control rather than each other one, she counts herself, which sets her floor on an empty board at 1/1 and scales upward with everything standing beside her. The interesting part is the protective clause, which addresses a specific failure mode of the build-around-her plan. A go-wide green-white deck running a payoff this scalable does not want it picked off for a card, and "can't be the target of abilities your opponents control" narrows the angles of attack: an opposing activated ability that would ping or shrink her, a triggered ability that snipes a chosen creature, the assortment of tap-and-fight and target-a-creature effects that operate as abilities rather than spells all slide off. But note the seam in the wording. It guards against abilities, not spells, so a targeted removal spell still finds her cleanly, an Aura resolves without obstruction, and any board wipe takes the whole team that was propping her up anyway. Edicts route around her entirely, since they make the controller choose rather than targeting the creature. That is the tension she resolves: a creature whose stat line is borrowed from the battlefield needs armor against the point-and-click abilities that would otherwise erase her for free, yet she stays wide open to the sweepers and spell-based removal that keep wide strategies honest.
