Shade of Trokair
The whole point of this design is the color-bend, and it lands as a single inside joke for anyone who knows what a Shade is. Shades are black: the activated pump that turns a fragile body into a closing threat is one of mono-black's oldest signatures, going back to Frozen Shade in the earliest sets. Putting that exact template in white, where the mana feeding the activation comes from Plains instead of Swamps, is the kind of axis-flip that asks you to read the card twice. Suspend complicates the curve in a useful way: pay the white mana early, exile it for three turns, and it arrives with haste and free, so the body that does nothing on an empty board lands swinging while you still hold up the rest of your turn's mana to grow it. That timing matters because the pump scales with whatever white sources you have untapped, which means the suspend route trades a slow start for a turn where every Plains you leave open becomes another point of damage. It is a small, contained piece of design rather than a format-warping one, but it captures a specific era's appetite for taking a mechanic that belonged to one color and proving it could be built anywhere.
