Threshold rewarded a graveyard count of seven or more, and this common is one of the mechanic's cleaner expressions: a 2/1 that swells to a 4/3 once you've burned through seven cards, with reach stapled on so it pulls double duty as a ground beater and a flier-stopper. The design tension lives in the gap between the two halves. Before threshold flips it, the body is brittle, a green two-drop carrying the toughness of a one-drop and dying to any incidental ping; after, it's a real clock that also walls the air. The four-word creature line (Centaur Druid Scout Archer) is a vestige of an era when Wizards stacked types to seed tribal hooks that mostly never arrived, and the Archer tag is the one that earns the reach in flavor terms. What keeps the card honest is that threshold isn't free: getting seven cards into the yard by the early turns where a two-drop matters most asks for a deck already committed to filling its own graveyard, the exact self-mill shell this kind of green threshold common was built to enable. Detached from that engine it's still a creature with reach, a serviceable air-blocker that just never reaches the back half of its stat line. That conditionality is precisely the point of a threshold payoff at common: the bonus is contingent on work the deck was going to do anyway.
