Serra Disciple
First strike is the quiet key that turns a handful of temporary +1/+1 bonuses into real combat leverage: pump before damage and the creature swings at its boosted size before any blocker gets to answer, so a single trigger can flip a trade or shove damage past a defender that should have held the line. The 1/1 body is intentionally undersized to keep that math from running away: every boost expires at the end of the turn, so the reward accrues only to a deck that fires its legendaries, artifacts, and Sagas in a single window rather than dribbling them out turn by turn. It is scaffolding for a "historic matters" archetype, a common-rarity flier built to care about the exact spells such a deck was already casting, without demanding a slot the deck cannot spare. Take the density away and you still own a two-mana evasive creature with first strike and a trigger that simply sits idle; the flying and the combat arithmetic carry their own weight. Surrounded by a chain of legends and relics, though, it becomes a running scoreboard of how much historic pressure a single turn produced.
