A one-mana lifelinker that does nothing dramatic on its own and almost everything once a single condition flips. The clause that turns a 1/1 into a 6/6 flier is gated on a life total of 30 or more, which inverts the usual aggro math: instead of racing your opponent down, you are racing your own life total up, and the card pays out hugest in the shells built specifically to start above the threshold or vault past it early. That is why it has always lived in lifegain decks rather than white aggro, where it would sit as a lifelinking one-drop with no flying and no extra body until well past the point it mattered. The design depends on that contrast: the base creature is deliberately modest so the payoff has to be enormous to justify the conditional, and a flying 6/6 with lifelink for one mana is enormous. The threshold also means the creature can switch off mid-combat the moment your life total dips below 30, so the +5/+5 and flying are not a one-time unlock but a live condition that combat damage, fetch lands, and shocks can all flip back off. It reads as a build-around because it is one; the question it asks is not "is this good" but "can your deck keep its own life total high enough to make a one-mana monk into a clock," and the formats where the answer is yes are the only ones where it has ever mattered.
