Self-Assembler

The Assembly-Worker creature type was a flavor relic for most of its existence, a label hung on a scattered handful of artifact constructs that shared a name and almost nothing else. This card is the moment that type got a payoff: it pulls another Assembly-Worker from your library into your hand on arrival, turning a loose collection of robots into something that could chain itself together. The tribal joke is that the most reliable Assembly-Worker to fetch is another copy of this exact card, so a deck running multiples builds a self-replicating spine where each 4/4 finds the next. That recursion carries the design at five mana: the body is plain, the rate unremarkable, but the search means the second and third copies cost only their mana, not a card. The friction is the toll itself. Five mana for a vanilla-sized creature with a one-shot tutor is a slow engine, and the tutored card lands in your hand rather than on the battlefield, so each link demands another full turn's investment to deploy. What it offers is consistency to a tribe that never had enough members to be consistent on its own: a way to guarantee you draw into your synergy pieces instead of hoping the shuffle cooperates. It is less a powerful card than an enabling one, the connective tissue that lets an otherwise-thin creature type behave like an actual archetype.
