Seht's Tiger

Most protection effects ask you to commit in advance: cast at sorcery speed, name a color, hope you guessed the threat correctly. Flash inverts that entirely. The trigger fires on entry, the choice resolves as that trigger does, and "the color of your choice" means you decide after you already know what is coming at you. That sequencing is the whole pitch. Read carefully, though, on whom the protection lands: the trigger shields you, the player, not your creatures. So this is not a counter to a typical removal spell aimed at your board. Where it earns its keep is against everything pointed at your life total: a color's attackers stop dealing damage (and combat math collapses for the opponent who tapped out into open white mana), a targeted burn spell or a player-targeted edict fizzles, and a 3/3 stays on the table afterward. The cost of all that reactivity is that the shield lasts only until end of turn: it is a single decisive beat, not a standing wall. The body is unremarkable on rate. The reason the card exists is the instant-speed window, where it punishes the opponent for committing to an attack or a face-burn plan before they knew a white player had this in hand. It rewards reading the stack rather than predicting it, which is a fundamentally different skill from the proactive, cast-it-and-hope protection of an earlier design era.
