Megamorph lives or dies on the ratio between what you pay to hide the creature and what you pay to reveal it, and this one gets that ratio exactly backwards. The disguise costs to deploy as a modest 2/2, and the flip runs
, seven mana, to reveal a 6/5 wearing its megamorph +1/+1 counter (a 7/6 in practice). Run the whole sequence and you have spent ten mana across two turns to arrive at a body with no evasion, no trample, no death trigger, nothing that ends a game the creature cannot end by walking forward. The versions of this mechanic that mattered kept the flip cost a small premium over the hardcast, so the bluff stayed live: an opponent trading with or attacking into your face-down blocker had to price in the worst-case reveal. A flip cost this steep means the trap almost never gets to spring, and when it does, the payoff is a vanilla beater arriving expensive and late. , which is roughly what the mechanic is buying you here anyway. It is a clean illustration of why the strongest cards in this design leaned on flips that did something on arrival: the ones whose only trick was getting two points bigger were the floor of the idea, not the ceiling.
