Secret Rendezvous

Sorcery1 generic manaWhite manaWhite mana

The symmetric card-draw gimmick reframed for multiplayer politics. Group-hug draw effects usually spread value openly to the whole table, but this one is a scalpel: you pick a single opponent and hand the two of you three cards apiece, leaving everyone else empty-handed. That targeting is the design pivot. It turns a Howling Mine-style "everyone benefits" liability into a tool for building a temporary alliance, greasing a deal, or bribing the one opponent whose grievance you most need to defuse this turn. The friction is that you are still refilling an enemy's hand at sorcery speed, so the card wants a deck that converts raw cards into board state or storm count faster than the beneficiary can, or a table read where three cards to one player is a calculated concession rather than a gift. Stripped of context it is a three-mana draw-three that talks, and the parity looks like a wash. The interesting version is the one where the draw split is the opening bid in a negotiation rather than the point of the spell: you are not paying white mana to draw cards, you are paying it to choose who else gets to. It is a narrow, table-dependent piece of design, but the decision of whom to enrich (and the leverage that choice buys) is exactly what the symmetric-draw archetype rarely bothers to hand the caster.
