Scrapyard Recombiner

A tutor stapled to a body that recycles itself when it dies. The sacrifice line asks for an artifact to feed it, and Modular hands you the return: sacrifice the Recombiner itself and the two +1/+1 counters relocate to another artifact creature, so the fetch does not cost you a permanent so much as move its stats sideways. That symmetry is the point. The card sits at the center of Construct-based artifact decks as the piece that finds the piece you actually need, whether that is a beater, a combo enabler, or a second copy of itself to chain the search. Fetching a Construct is a narrower brief than a generic artifact tutor, but the type line does real curatorial work: it lets designers gate a toolbox behind a creature type rather than a color or a mana cost, and the deckbuilder decides how deep the toolbox goes. The tension it resolves is that a tutor with a fragile 0/0 base and a self-sacrifice engine would normally be a tempo loss; Modular 2 pays for the body up front and refunds it on death, so the search never leaves you with nothing on board. Everything about it is built to be used and reused rather than held: it is a hub, not a payoff, and the more Constructs a library holds, the sharper it cuts.
