Scathe Zombies
No text at all, and that emptiness is the point: this is a snapshot of early black creature pricing, frozen at the moment the color pie was still being drawn by hand. The reigning assumption was that black paid a premium on bodies because it got the best removal and the best discard, so a 2/2 for three with no drawback clause was simply the going rate. The same stats in green would have been an embarrassment even then; in black, they were fair. The Zombie line is a second artifact buried in the same card. Tribal Zombies as a deckbuilding axis did not exist yet; the type read as flavor, not mechanical infrastructure, and it would be years before any card cared that this was specifically a Zombie rather than a generic undead body. What survives now is the reference point: the curve slot and rate against which every later black two-power three-drop has been measured, and usually beaten, as the color's creature pricing slowly normalized across the next decade of design.
