Scalding Devil
A 1/1 Devil that wants to spend the rest of the game pinging your opponent's face one point at a time, this is the slowest clock red owns. Three mana per activation buys a single damage to a player or planeswalker, which means nine mana over three uses to do the three that Lightning Bolt does for one. The activated reach exists to give a small body something to do once it has stopped mattering in combat: a way to convert flooded mana into incremental face damage without spending a card. That is the design lane this kind of creature lives in, a repeatable, undefendable trickle that asks nothing of the board and only wants you ahead enough that one point at a time eventually closes things out. The trouble is that "eventually" is doing heavy lifting at this rate, and the ability cannot touch creatures, so it never trades up or clears a blocker. It is a closer with no urgency, built for a grind that faster removal and bigger threats rarely let it reach.
