Doubling is the flashiest word on the card, but the sequencing is what makes it dangerous: add a +1/+1 counter first, then double the total on that creature, so the counter you just placed is part of what gets doubled. A bare target goes from one to two; a creature already carrying three becomes eight; four becomes ten. Because the trigger names a single creature per swing, the math compounds hardest when it lands on the same body turn after turn, which pushes the natural build toward a tall, voltron-style plan rather than a wide one. Point him at himself and he rides his own exponential curve; point him at a partner and one creature outgrows most removal windows inside two combats. The timing is the sharp edge: the attack trigger resolves during the declare-attackers step, so the counters land before blockers are chosen. Defenders have to assign blocks against the doubled body, not the one that entered combat, which turns a tidy gang-block into a lethal miscalculation. The enters-the-battlefield tutor is the quieter half, and its wording is the giveaway: searching for a Bird or a basic land is fixing with a narrow upside, a hint that the counter engine was built to sit next to an evasive flying threat rather than pure ground stompy. Most turns the search fetches a land; the Bird line exists to assemble something that flies over whatever the doubling has inflated. The restraint is structural: nothing fires without a combat step, so the body has to survive to swing before the exponential payoff arrives.
