The attack trigger is the whole engine: six mana added the instant this is declared as an attacker, split into three red and three green, with the crucial rider that it survives the step and phase transitions that normally empty your pool. That second clause is what separates a ritual from a recurring resource. Because the mana arrives on the declare-attackers step and not on damage, it is yours whether the swing connects, gets chump-blocked, or gets fogged: you spend the pool at instant speed during combat or bank it into the second main phase, since it persists through steps and phases that would otherwise drain it. The output skews toward Gruul costs by design but spends as generic just as readily, which makes it a launchpad for oversized threats, X-spells cast after blocks are declared, or plays that want mana available mid-combat rather than during your pre-combat main phase. The tension is honest: the payoff demands you commit to combat, so the trigger only fires once the Dragon lives to swing into a board that may want it dead first. The 4/4 flying frame is workmanlike, not the point; the body exists to reach the red zone turn after turn and put the trigger on the stack. Everything interesting is downstream of the mana, and the mana wants a red or green spell you are ready to cast the moment it appears.
