Samite Sanctuary
The Samite priests have always been Dominaria's healers, and this turns their devotion into open utility: a recurring fog-for-one-creature whose button is wired to the whole table, not just its controller. That shared activation is the unusual part, and it tracks the politics-as-design experiments this stretch of white was reaching for. A repeatable damage-prevention shield is normally a one-sided defensive tool; opening the same ability to every player reframes it as a table resource, something an opponent might pump to keep a creature alive long enough to swing your way, or to spite a third player's removal. The rate is deliberately grinding: two mana to stop a single point, payable over and over, which means the card only matters when mana is plentiful and the increments add up. That stinginess (you can fire it at instant speed, but each click buys so little) is what stops a permanent, untaxed prevention engine from rewriting combat math outright. It reads as a fossil from a stretch when white's identity leaned hard on prevention and pillow-fort patience rather than tempo, before damage prevention faded as a primary design lever. The result is a curiosity: an enchantment that hands a defensive lever to everyone and waits to see who, if anyone, decides it is worth pressing.
