Mnemonic Wall on legs. The recursion trigger is unchanged from that older blue defender: on entry, return one instant or sorcery from your graveyard to hand, no exile clause, no restriction on what qualifies. What changed is the chassis. The Wall was a 0/4 that couldn't swing; this Merfolk Wizard is a 2/2 that can attack, chump, and trade. But the real upgrade is subtler than combat ability. A wall can be blinked or bounced just like anything else, so the older body was never barred from a loop; it was simply a worse body to loop, contributing nothing to the board while it sat there. The rebuilt version gives blue's flicker shells a recursion body that also does something between blinks: applies two power, blocks a creature, feeds a sacrifice line. Anything that bounces or reuses your own creatures turns the single recursion into a repeatable engine that keeps handing back your best spell. The cost pays for that flexibility with an unevasive frame and five mana, keeping it a fair-deck value piece rather than an engine that ends games on its own. The trigger itself asks for nothing: a counterspell, a board wipe, the back half of a control deck's finisher all come back the same way. Small on paper, and quietly load-bearing anywhere blue's late game runs through getting one specific spell back into hand.
