Sadistic Glee
Death is the engine here, and it does not care whose creatures are dying. Every time a creature hits a graveyard anywhere on the board, the enchanted host gains a permanent +1/+1 counter, which reframes combat trades and removal as fuel rather than threats. In a stalled board the counters climb on both clocks; in an attrition grind where creatures swap evenly, the host outgrows the trades because each death adds size that never comes back. The Aura's familiar vulnerability still applies: a removal spell on the host hands the opponent a two-for-one and takes the accumulated counters down with the body. That fragility is the cost the design pays for asking only one black mana, and it pins the whole investment to a single permanent. Where the card stops being a curiosity is alongside a free sacrifice outlet that feeds your own creatures to the yard. The trigger fires on every death, so each sacrifice converts board presence directly into power on a stick, and the host becomes a clock whose speed you set. The counter is the structural reward that separates this from a temporary pump: what the deaths build stays built even after the dying stops, so a host that survives a few turns becomes a threat that chump-blocking cannot unwind.
