Rustler Rampage

InstantWhite mana

A one-pip white instant whose base cost buys you nothing: you pay for value only by attaching modes, and both of them rewrite combat from the sidelines. The untap mode is pseudo-Vitalize, readying a chosen player's creatures so tapped-out defenders come back online or a committed board suddenly has answers; the double-strike mode doubles one creature's damage output at the moment of the strike. Buy both costs and you get complementary halves of a single combat: your creatures ready up to block while one creature commits harder to the swing you are still making, the whole package assembled after blocks are declared. The line worth noticing is that the untap targets a player rather than your own board, which opens cooperative and political plays most combat tricks close off by design: you can ready a teammate's blockers, or untap someone else's creatures in a pinch. It sits in a long tradition of white instants that manipulate the combat step without a body, but the modular pricing is the new wrinkle. Instead of one fixed effect at one fixed cost, you assemble the trick the board actually calls for and pay only for the pieces you take, which makes the same card read as a bluff-friendly untap, a raw finisher, or both at once depending on the mana you have open.
