Toughness is green's oldest defensive language, the number that says nothing gets through because the attacker simply bounces off, and a 3/6 is built almost entirely along that vertical axis. Six toughness sits above the reach of most early aggression and the incidental burn that picks off smaller blockers, while three power is just enough to punish a careless attacker who runs into it. There is no evasion, no activated ability, no trigger to time around: the pitch is structural, a stationary obstacle whose worth is counted in damage prevented rather than dealt. The Phyrexian Beast type frames where it lands in a corrupted color pie, but the function predates any flavor coat of paint. Green's role here is endurance, the wall that holds the ground while the deck's payoffs assemble, and this is the unglamorous common that keeps a slower, grindier green plan alive through the midgame. Plain by design and unfussy in execution, it asks nothing of the player except patience, and a willingness to value a body for the attacks it absorbs rather than the ones it makes.
