Most spell-copiers pay for the copy once and then settle onto the board: Dualcaster Mage bodies onto the stack, Pyromancer's Goggles taxes a slot and sits there. This design does the opposite. The activation returns Rootha to hand, so the copy is never free and never final: recast for three, tap out again, and duplicate the next spell too. Permanence is traded for repeatability, which explains the inverted stat spread. A 1/4 is built to weather a swing-back and keep offering the button, not to threaten anyone's life total; the toughness is there so the loop can survive and continue.
The "choose new targets" line is where the value stacks. One removal spell becomes a scalable answer that can hit two things or reroute mid-combat; a card-draw sorcery becomes a slow engine bounded only by the recast cost and available mana. It inverts how blue-red usually operates, leaning on spell density over creature count rather than on bodies for tempo. What throttles the loop is its own upkeep: each cycle demands paying the two-mana bounce and then hardcasting the artist again, which pushes the deck toward cheap, high-value spells worth copying on repeat instead of asking a 1/4 to end games. It is a value node dressed as a creature, and every time it leaves the battlefield it is promising to come back and do the thing again.
