Romantic Rendezvous

Sorcery1 generic manaRed mana

Rummaging, red's oldest concession in the card-selection debate: pitch first, draw second, and pay the tax of committing to the discard before you see what replaces it. The math is card-neutral (spend one, discard one, draw two), so this is velocity, not advantage. What it actually buys is graveyard placement disguised as a draw spell. Because you discard before you draw, the card leaving your hand is a choice you make blind to the top two, which means the effect rewards decks where the worst card in hand is also the best card in the yard: a reanimation target too heavy to cast, a flashback or escape spell that only wanted one trip through your hand, delve fuel banking for later. Red has long been the color asked to earn its digging by throwing something away first, a design leash that keeps it reckless rather than careful and stops it from quietly out-drawing blue. Locking the skeleton to a two-mana sorcery removes the two levers that would make it dangerous: no instant-speed reactivity to hold up, no scaling cost that lets you dig deeper. You get a flat two-for-two that converts your least useful card into two fresh plays and, in the right shell, into a resource sitting exactly where you want it.
