Most snow payoffs from this era counted what you already had: snow-covered lands, the rare snow artifact, a number capped by whatever the manabase supported. This bird breaks that ceiling by rewriting what snow even is. Stamp an ice counter onto any permanent, and the trailing static clause declares that permanent snow, which ticks the count up by one and grows the body a single step to match. Aim the conversions at your own board to pad the total, or fold an opponent's permanents into your snow count instead. The mechanism is self-feeding: it manufactures the very resource it pays off on, the closest the snow mechanic ever came to a closed-loop value engine. The catch lives entirely in that static clause, and that clause lives on the owl. Permanents are snow only while the owl is on the battlefield, so an answer to the body does not just remove a 7/7-ish flyer; it collapses every conversion at once, instantly returning the board to its true snow count and stranding all the you spent building toward it. That is the real liability the seven-mana cost buys into: the engine is the body, never the counters it scattered around, and one removal spell reclaims a card while you eat the full tempo and mana cost of everything you fed it. It builds its own fuel, then keeps all of that fuel hostage to a single point of failure.
