Rile

SorceryRed mana

A cantrip that costs a creature nothing but a point of damage, which is exactly the point: the ding is the input to an engine, not a tax on the card draw. Aim it at a creature with an enrage trigger and the "drawback" flips into a second trigger, whether that means a free pump, a card, or a burst of damage aimed wherever that creature wants it. Even stripped of that interaction, trample carries more weight than the line suggests, because red's aggressive midrange bodies get chumped or eaten by a single fat blocker, and one mana to force damage through while replacing itself is tempo well spent. The condition is what makes it a build-around rather than universal smoothing: you need a creature you control and can afford to hit, so the card asks for a board state before it pays out. That places it in a long red tradition of cantrips gated behind a target or a trigger, the corner where the damage clause is the machinery you feed rather than the price you swallow.
