Ridged Kusite
The discard cost is the lever that defines this little Horror: every activation drains a card from your hand to grant a creature first strike and a single point of power. That trade reflects an early-era instinct for pricing repeatable combat manipulation, putting the brake on card economy rather than on mana. First strike plus a power bump turns any black attacker into a reliable combat winner, killing larger creatures without spending a removal spell, but only as fast as your hand can feed it. The 1/1 body offers nothing on its own; the card is a conduit, an engine you tap to convert surplus cards into combat edges. The design assumes a hand you would rather spend than hold, or a graveyard plan happy to see discards, since otherwise each pump is a real resource burned for a temporary swing. It belongs to the family of black aggressive enablers that ask you to pay in cards to break a combat stall, a niche that pays off only when emptying your hand is already part of the plan.
