Two color identities pulling in opposite directions, stitched onto one Elf. The attack trigger is pure go-wide green: the wider your Elf board, the more life pours in, scaling exactly with the tribe's natural inclination to flood the battlefield with bodies. The regeneration is where the black bleeds through, and it does so by cannibalizing the very board that powers the lifegain. Each regeneration costs you an Elf, which means surviving a sweeper or a combat blowout shrinks the engine that justified attacking in the first place. The whole design lives in that conflict: the card hands you a recurring lifegain payoff and an attrition outlet, then makes them compete for the same resource. It sits at the seam of the Golgari Elf identity that this era spent real effort building out, the point where the tribe stopped being purely a ramp-and-swarm green deck and started flirting with sacrifice loops and drain. As a legendary Elf Warrior body it is fragile on its own, a 3/2 that wants company, but it reads less as a standalone threat than as a thesis statement for what an Elf deck with a black splash is for: build the swarm, convert the swarm to life, and feed the swarm back to itself when something threatens to break the loop.
