Resuscitate
A regeneration shield engine sold as a team buff, which is a stranger design than it first reads. Most green combat tricks of its era pumped power or granted a keyword; this one instead hands every creature you control a repeatable regeneration ability for the turn, turning a board into a stand of bodies that can shrug off damage and destruction at one mana apiece. The instant speed is the whole point: held until the declare-blockers step, it lets a defender soak an alpha strike, and in response to a wrath-style sweep you can spend mana to put up shields before the destruction resolves. That timing distinction matters, because regeneration is not automatic; you have to activate the granted ability and let it resolve to create the shield, which then replaces the next would-be destruction. What balances the effect is the per-creature mana tax: the ability is free to grant but not free to use, so a wide board still cannot regenerate everything against multiple removal spells in the same turn. You pay one mana for each shield you actually want to stand up, and you have to do it before the threats hit. That makes it a hedge rather than a hard answer, a card that asks you to read which creatures matter and budget your mana across them. It belongs to green's old role as the color of resilience through sheer creature count, a function the color has largely traded for explicit anti-board-wipe text printed onto permanents instead of one-shot instants.
