The clause "power or toughness 4 or greater" is a deliberate seam in white's removal design, and it does more work than the number suggests. White has always paid a premium for creature destruction: it either exiles at a steep rate, taxes down its cheap removal with conditions, or restricts what it can hit. Here the condition is a size floor, which draws a clean line between the small creatures white is expected to trade with in combat and the large threats it historically struggles to answer at instant speed. A one-toughness aggressor with low power slips under it; a four-power finisher, a fattened token, an enchanted commander, or anything that grew past its printed size walks straight into it. That threshold also makes the card grow with the board rather than shrink: the bigger the thing you want dead, the more reliably this kills it, which inverts the usual pattern where efficient removal gets stranded against the exact threats you most need to stop. The result is a removal spell built to be a clean answer to top-end and a dead card against a curve of one-drops, a split that pushes it toward decks planning to survive into the midgame rather than trade in the early turns. It is unglamorous, but the size gate is a precise and reusable lever, one white has leaned on to keep instant-speed destruction honest without either exiling or overpaying.
