Relm's Sketching

Sorcery2 generic manaBlue manaBlue mana

Cloning has always been a color-pie tightrope for blue: the effect wants to steal the best thing on the battlefield, but the classic templates (Clone, Vesuvan Doppelganger) restrict it to creatures, because copying a creature is contained and copying anything is not. This one widens the target line to artifacts and lands as well, which changes what the card is fundamentally doing. It is no longer just a body-doubler; it is a resource-copier. Point it at an opposing bomb creature and it behaves like an old Clone. Point it at a mana rock and it accelerates. Point it at a value engine, a Sol Ring, or a utility land that taps for something meaningful and it stops being about combat entirely. The sorcery speed is the restriction paying for that reach: you cannot hold it up to answer something at instant speed the way blue would prefer, so the card commits to its target on your own turn, at a rate that assumes you already see the thing worth copying. Because the token is a copy rather than a theft, it also sidesteps the awkwardness of control-magic effects that hand the original back when they leave; the copy is permanent and yours. The design lands where blue's identity-theft tradition has been drifting for years: away from creature-only mirroring and toward copying whatever piece of the board is doing the most work.
