Relic Bane

A punishment Aura that refuses to touch the thing it enchants. It doesn't tap the artifact, doesn't switch off its ability, doesn't remove it from the board. It only makes the controller bleed two life every upkeep for the privilege of keeping it, which makes it a clock bolted to someone else's permanent. The design idea is coercion rather than answer: the same attrition logic that powers Pestilence, where you win by imposing an ongoing cost instead of changing what's in play. The weakness sits entirely on the opponent's side of the table. Against an artifact they can replace, or one they have a sacrifice outlet for, the Aura is dead weight, and sending the artifact away takes the enchantment with it on the controller's own timing. It only earns its slot against an irreplaceable engine the opponent cannot afford to lose and cannot dump, where the upkeep trigger becomes a siege they can't lift. Note the wording: this is life loss, not life drain, so the enchanting player gains nothing, and not damage either, so it slips past prevention and any "would be dealt damage" clause while also being impossible to redirect or fizzle. The arithmetic is what undoes it. Three mana and a card to subtract two life per turn, on the opponent's schedule, with no immediate effect on the battlefield, asks that slow trickle to outrace the entire rest of the game. Like most attrition enchantments that read as control, it folds to faster, cleaner removal.
