Reduce in Stature
Most blue answers to a problem creature either bounce it, lock it down, or pacify its combat. This one rewrites the body itself, setting base power and toughness to 0/2 and leaving the result in play. The distinction matters because power and toughness changes from other sources still stack on top, so a counter or a pump effect can claw the creature back to relevance, but the base reset strips away whatever raw stats made it a threat. Against a bomb whose value lives in its size, that is a clean neutering: a 6/6 finisher becomes a 0/2 that still triggers anything keyed to "a creature you control" but no longer attacks for lethal. The 0/2 floor is the tell. It does not kill, so it dodges the regenerate-and-recur problem of actual removal, and it leaves a body that can still chump or carry an evasion ability that does not depend on power. The cost of the approach is permanence in name only: it is an Aura, vulnerable to the same enchantment removal and blink effects that plague every Aura, and a creature with a static buff stapled to it may shrug the shrink off entirely. What it offers is the softest form of removal in the stat-shrinking playbook: not answering the threat but shrinking it below the point where it matters, and trusting the harmless 0/2 that remains to sit there and do nothing.
