Reaper's Scythe

Most Equipment scales off itself: an anthem baked into the artifact, a fixed bonus you pay once for and forget. This one instead reads the whole table's turn and grows on shared attrition. The counter mechanic tracks life loss across every player, not just combat damage you deal, so a board where three opponents lost life on your turn to fetch lands, painful mana, and your own aggression feeds the Scythe as fast as your own attacks do. That converts it from a per-hit tool into a running total of the game's violence, and the size of the equipped creature becomes a proxy for how bloody the game has been. The Assassin type-grafting is the quieter half of the design: it doesn't do much on its own, but it means whatever you strap the blade to gets folded into a creature-type-matters shell without needing to be born an Assassin. What makes the accumulation stick is that the counters live on the Equipment, not the creature. Move it, and the whole soul-count travels intact to the next body, so a removal spell aimed at your beater costs you nothing but a re-equip. The design leans hard on the premise that some counter will always tick over on your end step, which in a multiplayer game is close to a given; the more players around the table losing life on your turn, the faster it snowballs into a threat that only artifact removal can undo.
