Reality Anchor

Instant1 generic manaGreen mana

Green has no native answer to evasion the way blue counters or white exiles, so its whole job in the color pie is to drag the elusive back to earth: reach for fliers, the various "loses flying" tricks, and here, a green instant that revokes Tempest's signature evasion keyword for a turn. Shadow creatures live in a separate combat economy, unable to interact with the ground forces they fly past, so a tiny attacker with the keyword keeps connecting while your board sits idle. Stripping the keyword collapses that separation and forces the attacker back into the fight your blockers actually participate in. The bolted-on draw is what makes the rate survivable: a two-mana instant aimed at a single mechanic would be a dead card against any deck that does not run it, so the cantrip guarantees the pilot is never down a card for holding hate against a menace that may never appear. That compromise (pin the answer to a specific threat, then attach a draw so it cycles itself when the threat is absent) became the template for nearly every hyper-narrow piece of mechanic hate printed afterward. This is an early, tidy instance of it: color-pie hate engineered to shut down one keyword without punishing the guess.
