Two effects that aristocrats and reanimator decks have always wanted in one slot, attached to a leader that can fetch back the engine pieces they keep sacrificing. The static anthem is the more interesting of the two, because it is rare for a recursion commander to also be the team's lord: while this is on the battlefield, every token, every recurred fatty, every hatebear gets a point bigger, which turns a graveyard toolbox into an actual board state rather than a string of one-for-ones. The upkeep return is the slow half, capped at one creature card per turn and triggering before you draw, with the returned card usually waiting for your main phase to be recast; it is repeatable in a way that pushes Orzhov grind toward inevitability rather than burst. What makes the card matter beyond the rate is Partner: it was built to be only half of a command zone, which is why the anthem and the recursion are split onto a body modest enough (a 2/2 flier) that pairing it with a second commander never feels like overload. The design invites you to bring a second color and a second axis, and the white-black package it offers (an army-wide buff and a recursion loop) is among the easiest to splash a third color onto. Read alone it looks like a tidy value creature; read as one wing of a two-commander deck, it is a deliberate anchor for a build that wants both a wide board and a graveyard it never stops mining.
