Ravnica at War

Sorcery3 generic manaWhite mana

The elegance of this design is entirely in its blind spot. A four-mana white sorcery that exiles every multicolored permanent on the board reads like a catch-all board wipe, but the color condition is a scalpel disguised as a hammer: monocolored and colorless permanents walk away untouched. Build a deck that stays inside a single color pip or leans on artifacts and colorless threats, and this becomes a one-sided sweeper that leaves your own board intact while gutting an opponent whose power is concentrated in gold cards, whose commander is multicolored, or whose planeswalkers happen to carry two mana symbols. The exile mode matters as much as the color condition: it slides past death triggers, regeneration, indestructibility, and the recursion engines that punish ordinary destruction, sending everything to the exile zone with no farewell value. Because it is a mass effect rather than a targeted one, hexproof and ward do nothing to protect the permanents it names; the only defense is not being multicolored. The very restriction that limits its reach is what makes it worth building around. It is dead against a mono-white mirror and pointless against colorless aggression, so it asks the deckbuilder to knowingly warp toward the seam it exploits rather than reach for it as generic insurance. It is a hoser aimed at a specific way of building a deck (multicolor greed), and it hits hardest in the environments where that greed is the norm.
