Draw two, discard one, then wait for the deck to earn the rest. That is the deal a colorless four-mana artifact strikes here: immediate hand-smoothing on entry, with the real payoff parked behind a threshold this card cannot reach on its own. The discount lives where the speed track maxes out (a flat one-mana reduction on every spell you cast), but reaching the cap requires an opponent losing life across multiple turns, and never faster than one tick per turn. This permanent contributes nothing to that clock. It has no way to press a life total, so whether the reduction ever comes online depends entirely on the creatures and burn already in the deck around it. The split is deliberate. The loot is self-sufficient, keeping the artifact from stranding in hand when the aggression stalls; the cost reduction is the reward for a race the card asks you to be winning independently. What makes the design coherent is that neither half pretends to be the other: the value on entry is guaranteed and modest, the payoff is large and conditional, and the artifact never tries to fund its own condition. It sits in the deck as a wager on aggression already committed to, sweetening a fast start rather than creating one.
