Quirion Druid

Creature — Elf Druid2 generic manaGreen mana

A repeatable land-animation engine built around a deliberately slow, opt-in clock, and the word that does the design work is "Target." Most readings treat this as a way to grow your own mana base into a 2/2 every turn: bank another body, keep it forever, ramp the threat count one land at a time. That is the intended mode, and it carries its own discipline, because the permanence cuts both ways. Once a land is a creature for good, it answers to every sweeper and every creature spot-removal spell your real threats do, so the engine pays for repeatability by feeding your own mana into the same effects that would otherwise have nothing to hit. You cannot untap your way back to safety. But "Target land" also reaches across the table: animate an opponent's land and you have turned an inert permanent into a legal target for the creature removal and board wipes already in your deck, a quiet way to make their mana base mortal. The Druid belongs to the early run of green creature-lands theory, when the color was still working out how to convert a sprawling land position into pressure without a finisher in hand, and it metered exposure one land per turn rather than committing the whole battlefield at once the way later mass-animation effects do. The 1/2 body is incidental. The value is in the accumulation, the choice of whose lands to expose, and the fact that none of it is reversible.
