Creature — Human Artificer1 generic manaRed mana

Walled-off mana is the whole design here. A two-mana red creature that taps for one red is nothing anyone builds around: a body with a mana ability stapled on that most decks would never run. But that second tap for Red manaRed mana carries a leash: the extra red can only feed power-up abilities and evaporates against anything else. That fence is what lets the output double without turning the card into a generic Mind Stone on legs; the bonus red is dead weight to a control shell, a combo pile, or a burn deck, and only pays out in the one archetype that spends mana making its threats bigger. It is a Spellshaper-era move applied to ramp: give the effect a wide-looking rate, then wall it so tightly that only the intended deck can cash it in. The 2/1 is almost incidental, a place to hang the two taps, though it does swing for a turn before settling into its job as an accelerant. What keeps the design honest is that ceiling and floor are the same card: outside a power-up strategy you have a mediocre mana dork, and inside one you have a dork that ramps at twice the speed toward exactly what the deck was already trying to do.
