Pyromancy 101

Sorcery — LessonRed mana

One red mana buys a single point of damage to anything, and then, as that spell resolves, it staples itself to a creature you control instead of hitting the graveyard: you get the ping and the engine, not a choice between them. What sits on the board afterward is the interesting part. The exiled card is not spent; it is a template the taught creature can reference every time it untaps, tapping to copy the card so you can cast the copy for its teach cost. That scaling turns a marginal one-damage effect (historically the most disposable kind of removal, easy to trade one-for-one) into a repeatable pinger anchored to a body. The mechanic splits the payoff across time without asking you to pick between halves: the damage lands now, the copy engine installs itself for later. What pays for that generosity is fragility. The engine lives on the creature, so a single removal spell aimed at the taught body erases the whole apparatus, and each copy costs real mana, so the machine only earns out if the creature keeps untapping and you keep paying. Back-loaded value behind a target opponents can see coming: the ceiling is a recurring damage source, the floor is a single point of damage on a body that got blown up before it ever activated.
