The destruction effect is the real card here: pay one black mana, sacrifice the Spirit, and any nonblack creature dies, no matter how large or how protected by toughness. That is removal Spirit decks could otherwise struggle to find, packaged onto a body that earns its keep twice. Soulshift 6 is what turns a single sacrifice into recurring pressure: when this dies, it can pull another Spirit of mana value 6 or less back from the graveyard, and at value 6 the net it casts is wide enough to catch most of the tribe's payoff creatures. The two abilities feed each other deliberately. You sacrifice it to kill a blocker or a threat, the soulshift trigger refills your hand, and the returned Spirit can carry its own soulshift when it eventually dies, building a chain of removal and recursion that a slower opponent has to break before it spirals. The black cost on both ends is the design's anchor: the destroy ability is gated by black mana and the kill cannot touch black creatures, which keeps it from being universal removal while leaving everything else exposed. It is built for a graveyard-minded Spirit deck that wants its threats to keep coming back, the kind of attrition engine that asks you to treat each creature as a resource to be spent rather than a permanent to be protected.
