Public Execution

Instant5 generic manaBlack mana

Six mana for unconditional removal is a price that needs justifying, and the rider does the justifying: kill the best creature your opponent controls, then watch the rest of their board shrink for the turn. The -2/-0 sweep is the whole pitch. It turns a single removal spell into a combat-math weapon, blunting an entire attacking force or letting your own blockers eat creatures they could not otherwise survive. The structural quirk is that the debuff only touches power, never toughness, so it works purely on the offensive side of the ledger: it cannot finish off small creatures the way a -2/-2 wave would, but it does flip an alpha strike from lethal to survivable in one instant-speed beat. Cast on the opponent's attack step, it removes the threat that matters most and softens everything behind it before damage lands. The cost is the obvious tax, and it sits in the bracket of removal you cast as a stabilizer rather than for tempo: a spell that asks you to fall behind first and then reset the race in a single exchange. It is honest about what it is. Not an efficient answer, but a turn-swinging one, built for the player who would rather spend two extra mana to break up a board than trade one-for-one and hope.
