Prized Amalgam
A parasite that rides other engines rather than powering its own. The trigger is deliberately indirect: casting this from hand does nothing, dying does nothing, and flickering a creature does nothing, because a flickered creature enters from exile rather than from beneath. The wording is strict by design. It returns only when a creature arrives from the graveyard, whether an effect puts it there or someone hardcasts it from the yard, and the whole ability only functions while the Amalgam itself sits in the graveyard, waiting. That dependency is the entire engineering brief. Its historical partners have always been the self-returning graveyard bodies: Narcomoeba dropping in when milled, Bloodghast crawling back off a land, the dredge package that shovels them into the bin, each one stepping onto the battlefield from the graveyard and dragging the Amalgam along behind it. A single mill event can chain several bodies into play at once, which is the lever a graveyard deck pulls turn after turn. The delayed return (it arrives tapped at the next end step, not the moment the trigger resolves) is the brake on the whole thing, denying it a free instant-speed blocker and forcing the deck to commit proactively rather than ambush. Left to fend for itself, it is a 3/3 with no meaningful text and a cost it seldom pays honestly; wired into a deck built to spill creatures out of the yard, it converts every legal recursion trigger into a body for free. The gap between dead card and payoff runs precisely through how many creatures the deck can return in a single turn.
