Priest of Urabrask

Creature — Phyrexian Human Cleric2 generic manaRed mana

Cast it for three mana, get three back, and the math says you broke even. The whole game with this kind of body is what happens between the cast and the burst: the mana it produces comes with a restriction (three red pips, no filtering), and it arrives the instant the creature does, which means it functions less like a mana creature and more like a ritual stapled to a 2/1. Compare the ritual line directly: Pyretic Ritual and Desperate Ritual turn one card into a net of two mana with nothing left behind, while this leaves a body on the board that can swing, chump, or feed a sacrifice outlet after the mana is spent. That extra value is paid for by the tempo: you front a full turn's worth of mana before the burst comes online, and the 2/1 is fragile enough that it rarely survives to attack into anything. The design problem it solves is storm-and-combo's eternal want for a ritual that also leaves a permanent on the field, fueling cost-reduction engines, devotion counts, or affinity-style triggers that a one-shot spell cannot touch. It is a deliberate hybrid of two well-worn templates: the mana dork that taps for value over many turns, and the ritual that dumps its payload all at once. This one does neither cleanly, which is precisely the point.
