Presence of the Master
A pure hoser, designed at a moment when enchantments were among the format's most dangerous permanents and the answers to them were narrow, expensive, or color-locked (Disenchant being the clean exception). Once a permanent enchantment resolved, it tended to stay resolved. This card sidesteps that exchange entirely by refusing to let the spells land in the first place: a standing counterspell that costs nothing to maintain and asks nothing beyond the initial four mana. Crucially, it does not discriminate. The trigger fires whenever any player casts an enchantment, which means the controller's own enchantment spells die on the stack too; whatever deck runs this either plays no enchantments of its own or eats its own answers. It is a hard lock on a whole card type, pointed at everyone at the table, including the person who cast it. The design predates the lesson that lock pieces should cost something to keep online (Rule of Law wants its tax paid by everyone, Solitary Confinement wants the upkeep): Wizards was still comfortable printing silver bullets that read like sideboard cards stapled to the maindeck. Its structural descendants (Aura of Silence with its tax, Stony Silence and Rest in Peace with their narrower scopes) all pay some price for similar effects. This one does not; it simply turns enchantments off, for free, forever, for both players at once.
